Distribution Manager
My role here is the Distribution Manager at CUB at Abbotsford in Melbourne. I look after all the goods coming into the brewery as well as managing the distribution of the finished product from here.
I’ve been with CUB for 15 years now. I’m actually a butcher by trade and started here as seasonal worker. I then became a permanent employee and then took the opportunity to become the distribution manager. These opportunities have come to me through the people I’ve worked with and the training I’ve been given, which has been fantastic. Now when I talk to the people in my team about where I’ve come from, I say there’s no reason for them not being able to achieve the same. If you dedicate yourself to your work you can go a long with Foster’s.
The thing I love about coming to work is that I’m not stuck behind a desk but getting out and working with the great team of guys. I’m probably doing the job the best when I’m out talking with the guys, understanding what’s going on in their days and helping them solve problems. We have a good relationship across the team – we can talk about work and things outside of work and the good things and the issues we need to address. I think we all enjoy our time here.
We have two warehouses here at Abbotsford, one is for the packaging and raw products and the other is our product warehouse. We can store a total of about 10,000 pallets across the two warehouses and today we have about 76 double units going out with our products. From the warehouses we deliver to our major customers including Coles and Woolworths – in fact we have about 30 units going out to those clients alone. So, yes, we have a big operation here!
The loyalty we have from our trade and consumer customers is definitely one of the reasons that being a part of CUB is good. Our brands are always around us through advertising and of course every time you’re at a bar, our brands are there. It makes me feel good to see my friends order one of our brands.
CUB is a good place to work and a good company to work for – I’ve really enjoyed my time in the 16 years I’ve been here – it’s just a good thing!
